Issue 125

Research Outreach continues to showcase research from a broad range of institutions around the globe. In this issue, we are excited to celebrate some of the pioneers driving the latest discoveries and innovations in research.

Since its foundation in 2013, the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS) has established itself as the go-to European research institute which seeks to enhance knowledge about contemporary China in Europe. We spoke to Mikko Huotari, director of MERICS, about this important independent research.

Predatory publishing is becoming increasingly ubiquitous across the sciences and beyond. Dr Nicola Alberto Valente, Adjunct Assistant Professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo, compiled and studied the large number of invitations he received over the course of an academic year. Research Outreach spoke to Nicola to learn more about his findings, and about the impact of these publishers more generally.

Sit back and take a look inside. We hope you enjoy learning about the latest research featured in this issue as much as we did.
