Issue 132

At Research Outreach we strive to make research accessible for all. In this issue we are excited to celebrate some of the pioneers driving the latest discoveries and innovations in research.

We talk to Dr Ben Sessa, psychiatrist, researcher, writer, and Co-founder and Head of Psychedelic Medicine at Awakn Life Sciences. His academic research coupled with his therapeutic practice have yielded vital insights into the safety and efficacy of psychedelic-assisted therapy. Research Outreach caught up with Sessa two years after our last interview, to talk about the exciting developments in the field.

We were also privileged to learn more from writer and documentary maker Polly Morland. Her most recent book, A Fortunate Woman (2022), offers an exploration of the ‘humanity of primary care’ and critically reflects the need for a sustained and compassionate doctor–patient relationship. Research Outreach spoke to Morland about her remarkable book and about the changing role of the modern GP.

We hope you enjoy learning about the latest research in this latest issue as much as we did. Read on to discover its secrets for yourself.
