Welcome to Research Outreach – where curiosity meets discovery! Research enables us to understand the universe and our place within it. Yet, the beauty of research often remains hidden behind the complex language and data sets that surround it. Our mission at Research Outreach is to bridge this gap, making research accessible to all.
Professor Manijeh Razeghi at Northwestern University, USA, stands at the forefront of semiconductor and optoelectronic device innovation. She played a key role in the optical fibre telecommunication breakthrough during the 1980s and 1990s, laying the groundwork for the subsequent information age. In an interview with Research Outreach, Razeghi shares her passion for curiosity, and explains why her inquisitiveness about the workings of the world remain as strong today as ever.
The UK’s National Physical Laboratory (NPL), in collaboration with multiple partners, has launched the Quantum Standards Network Pilot. The initiative targets various aspects of quantum technology, including its applications in industry, the development of novel quantum technologies, and the provision of future training opportunities. Research Outreach spoke with Dr Rhys Lewis who leads Quantum Programmes at NPL about harmonising advancements in quantum technology with established industry benchmarks and how quantum technologies are a catalyst for innovation.
